SERVA
SERVA Electrophoresis GmbH is a German life sciences company founded in 1953 in Heidelberg, whose name originates from the Latin servare – “to serve science.” The company is internationally recognized for its expertise in biochemical separation and analysis technologies. In July 2025, SERVA Electrophoresis was acquired by LICORbio, expanding integrated protein analysis and workflow solutions worldwide.
A core area of SERVA’s portfolio is electrophoresis, offering a complete range of reagents, gels, and instruments for protein and nucleic acid separation. Key products include precast gels for Isoelectric Focusing (IEF), 2D and SDS-PAGE, Ampholytes, IPG strips, protein markers, and dyes such as Coomassie Brilliant Blue. SERVA also provides blotting systems, including the BlueBlot Semi-Dry Blotter.
Its biochemical reagents portfolio features high-quality albumins, enzymes (neutral proteases, trypsins), antibiotics, buffers, amino acids, and detergents. In protein purification, SERVA supplies IMAC and Glutathione agarose resins, extraction and lysis buffers (RIPA, mammalian kits), and protein quantification assays (Bradford, BCA, Lowry).
The company also supports molecular biology and cell research with agarose for electrophoresis, contamination-control reagents (DNADecon, MycoDecon), and cell-based assay kits such as Annexin V apoptosis and XTT viability tests.
