The Chemie Brunschwig story : Rooted in Basel, driving science forward

It all began in 1935, in the Netherlands. Mr. Brunschwig founded his company and embarked on the distribution of chemical and microbiological products. A few years later, during the war, he moved to Switzerland with his family. In 1948, Chemie Brunschwig AG was born in Basel, at the heart of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

In the 1970s the next generation stepped in: André took charge of the Swiss company while his brother Henri continued the business in the Netherlands. Two independent companies, but the same pioneering spirit.

The 1990s marked a turning point. The company parted ways with its historic supplier Aldrich and opened a new chapter with Acros Organics. Since then, our portfolio has grown steadily: chemicals, microbiology products, laboratory equipment and life-science solutions…

A new chapter: Innovation and digital transformation

In 2006 Roger Levy took over and gave the company a fresh impetus, focusing on both technological innovation and catalog expansion. 

In 2011 we left our historic premises to move to the industrial site Auf dem Wolf in Basel. Three years later, the implementation of SAP strengthened our traceability, and in 2022 our commitment to quality was recognized with ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Nearly 80 years after its founding, Chemie Brunschwig AG continues to write its story with the same passion: providing researchers, laboratories and industries with the tools they need to push the boundaries of science.
