Corning Cool Products
Corning Cool Products is an innovative range of temperature-control tools distributed by Corning Life Sciences, originally developed by BioCision. These solutions ensure consistent, reproducible, and standardized temperature management for biological samples, eliminating the variability of traditional ice or alcohol-based methods.
The CoolCell® Controlled-Rate Freezing Containers are designed for alcohol-free cryopreservation, achieving a precise −1°C/minute cooling rate in a standard −80°C freezer—ideal for most cell types. Using a patented thermo-conductive alloy core and insulating foam shell, they deliver reproducible freezing profiles and high post-thaw viability without hazardous fluids. Models include CoolCell LX and CoolCell FTS30.
The CoolRack® and CoolSink® modules provide uniform sample cooling or heating by rapidly equilibrating to the temperature of the underlying source (ice, dry ice, LN₂, or heat blocks). This ensures temperature uniformity (±0.1°C) across all tubes, plates, or vials—minimizing experimental variability.
Finally, the CoolBox™ Ice-Free Systems serve as portable, contamination-free cooling workstations. Using pre-frozen cores, they maintain stable sample temperatures between 0.5°C and 4°C for hours, avoiding melting ice and cross-contamination.
